Director of Enrollment
Mountaintop Montessori, a toddler-through 8th grade independent school is looking for a Director of Enrollment. Mountaintop is the only dually accredited school by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) and the American Montessori Society (AMS) in the greater Charlottesville, VA area. Our school has a track-record of 36 years of providing authentic Montessori education supplemented by a rich co-curricular program. We are interested in growing our enrollment and are looking for a motivated team player that is results oriented and eager to join our administration team. This position involves a probationary year after which the viability of maintaining this role will be judged based on the record of increased enrollment activity and higher retention. Salary range is $46,000 to $50,000 depending on qualifications. Position Description The Director of Enrollment plans, coordinates, and implements the school’s recruitment, enrollment, and retention of students and is responsible for guiding families through the admissions’ process.
The goal of this position is to facilitate a significant and sustainable increase in mission appropriate new enrollment, and retention of existing students. The person in this position will work closely with the Head of School in creating and executing marketing, admissions, and retention programs at the school. This is a senior leadership position that necessitates a high level of energy and commitment towards the mission of Mountaintop Montessori. This position involves a probationary year after which the viability of maintaining this role will be judged based on the record of increased enrollment activity and higher retention. Successful completion of the first year may result in a salary increase.
This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position, eligible for benefits.
Desired qualifications •College degree in marketing, student life, or related field •Minimum of 3 years experience working in admissions in an educational setting or managing marketing for an organization •Clear and persuasive written communication skills •Proficient in using digital media in advertising and public relations •Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively •Excellent social skills •Superior organizational skills •Ideal candidate can show evidence of effectiveness in moving prospective applicants through the admissions funnel in an educational setting
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: •Leads School Enrollment-Retention initiatives •Communicates the school’s mission and Montessori philosophy to prospective families •Promotes the school in the greater Charlottesville community •Responsible for the recruitment, screening, admission, enrollment and retention of the school’s students •Understands and is able to communicate the financial aid application process and deadlines to current and prospective parents •Leads enrollment management processes and reporting including tracking and analyzing admissions data to include enrollment reports, admission funnel statistics, retention, and performance •Oversees re-enrollment process to include parent communication, distribution of re-enrollment contracts and data tracking with support from the Registrar •Partners with program level directors and teachers to optimize student retention •Organizes and participates in admissions tours, and other school events relevant to student recruitment and retention •Organizes and attends admissions gathering and open houses, as well as visits feeder schools •Works with prospective families throughout the entire admissions process •Builds and maintains relationships with enrolled families and collaborates with Director of Development to identify and cultivate leads. •Assists with enrollment projections for future years •Seeks to increase the diversity of student applicants and enrollees •Works closely with financial aid committee Marketing •Develops and implements a comprehensive marketing plan for the school that uses current digital and social media •Manages the admissions section of the school web-page including providing content to the web master •Develops and maintains the budget for necessary marketing projects •Identifies and cultivates relationships with individuals outside the school community who can promote the school •Informs other school staff of relevant information to help retain students •Works closely with Director of Advancement to identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors Accountability •This position reports to the Head of School General •Proficient in using computers in both word processing, spreadsheet applications, and databases •Professional demeanor and communication style •Stay current with regulations related to independent school admissions and participate in ongoing professional development activities •Able to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings during the school year. •Other duties might be assigned as needed by the Head of School
