Long Term Spanish Substitute
Williamsburg Montessori School (WMS) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a long-term substitute in our Elementary and Secondary Spanish programs starting early February 2019 until June 2019 for a teacher on maternity leave. Substitute will use the Realidades curriculum for the Secondary program and Descubre el español con Santillana for Elementary classes. Classroom duties include differentiating learning to accommodate a variety of learners, assessing student learning, maintaining record keeping and student observations, and assisting in student-led conferences. The long-term substitute will also maintain timely and appropriate parent communication as necessary, and collaborate with Elementary and Secondary teaching team members.
WMS is an independent, coeducational school which provides authentic Montessori education to 150 students between the ages of 18 months and 14 years in Williamsburg, Virginia. WMS is a vibrant community committed to the highest standards of Montessori practice, professional excellence, and effective family partnerships.
Qualified applicants must have a bachelor's degree and have native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
Must be knowledgeable of and committed to Montessori philosophy and pedagogy and the valorization of the adolescent individual.
Preferred completion of Montessori training.
Applicants must observe the classroom and work with current classroom teacher in order to provide consistency and a seamless transition into the second semester.
