Teacher Training Centers

       Authentic Montessori Teacher Education Programs

Thinking about becoming a Montessori teacher?  There are a few things you should consider.

  1. What age of children do you really connect with?  Montessori Trainings are different for each age group because children are so different at each stage of development .  There are 4 or 5 separate trainings depending on the organization that provides it.  (birth to 3, 3 to 6, 6 to 9 or 6 to 12 and 12 to 18 years.)The best way to figure this out is to observe in all these environments. We recommend this even if you think you know, because what you might love is the Montessori, and the environments, while having the same core values you that impress you, will offer information about pace and the abilities of the children.
  2. Do you want to take two or three summers to do training or a full year to get your diploma?   This is up to your preference and the offerings of the training center.
  3. Is there a school that would sponsor you to do your training and then offer you a job afterwards? ( The answer these days is probably - since Montessori is becoming increasingly popular and understood!)
  4. How do you choose a training center?  Well, first, we recommend a MACTE accredited center.  MACTE ensures the training follows best practices guidelines for Montessori Training Centers around the globe. Second, where do you want to live?  At home? Below are the closest training centers for Virginia residents. All are MACTE accredited.  To find training centers in other exotic and non-exotic locales, see the MACTE site.
