DC Regional Coordinator, National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector
Katie began her career as a middle and high school English teacher in traditional and charter schools. She was introduced to Montessori while working at the South Carolina Department of Education. Katie went on to earn her PhD in urban education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she studied outcomes for African American students in public Montessori schools. Currently, Katie serves as the DC Regional Coordinator at the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector, where she manages the DC Montessori Teacher Residency and various research initiatives. Katie lives in Washington, DC with her partner and their seven-month-old son, Alex.
The Virginia Montessori Association is a non-profit (501(c)3) that was established in 2015 to bring Montessorians in Virginia together and to offer a community from which we all could benefit. Administrators, educators, parents and other supporters can connect, inform and communicate in a way that is of value to all.
