Preparation of the Spirit

"The real preparation for education is a study of one's self. The training of the teacher who is to help life is something far more than the learning of ideas. It includes the training of character, it is a preparation of the spirit." —Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

When we know ourselves deeply, connect with our hearts, and practice a peaceful life, we create more peace and stability in our classrooms and are better able to nurture the inner lives of the children. The spiritual preparation of the guide calls us to discover what it is that we find deeply meaningful.

Sensorial-The Gateway to Math & Language

We will reexamine Sensorial activities, to go beyond how these materials give the child the opportunity to master eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, order and sequence in a learning task, and improve sustained attention. We will explore how the Sensorial materials prepare the child for mathematics by helping with materialized abstractions through physical knowledge. We will also look at how to purposefully foster oral language development by verbally defining and refining the child’s language. You will be able to view this through multiple pictures and videos so that you can apply these techniques immediately in your classroom.
