Lovettsville Montessori School is in search of an Elementary guide in a classroom serving children ages 6 to 12 years old for the 2024 -2025 school year. The candidate should be kind, patient, work well as a team member, and have a positive attitude. This is a great place to work with others who want to help children work toward their potential. We encourage our team members to challenge themselves and grow in the position. Your talents and skills will be valued. The children are wonderful and the families are supportive. The Montessori Elementary Teacher will be responsible for preparing the environment for the different levels of development for the elementary child, promoting independence and a love for learning. Lovettsville Montessori School is a school that promotes outdoor education. The children have created an outdoor classroom, and they can choose to spend much of their day outside with their Montessori materials, reading, writing, playing music or playing games. The Montessori teacher should feel comfortable being outdoors and being active. We have a great deal of opportunities to go out and about for PE or other activities as we are located near the Appalachian Trail, the C&O canal, the Potomac River and other natural and historical locations. The Montessori guide should have experience and an understanding of Montessori pedagogy and will have an easy nature with the children in their care. They should have good written and spoken communication skills to communicate with the children, lead the children as a group and individually and communicate by email and in person with the parents of the children. They will guide the children through the educational goals and prepare and present lessons individually or in groups. Skills that we are looking for:
You will also represent the school to the families of the children and potential families in positive ways. Candidates will need to successfully complete state required background checks, CPR/First Aid training and at least 16 hours of professional development throughout the year.
