Lead Teacher – Primary 3-6 (Permanent)
Huntingtown, MD The Tidewater School, located in the western Chesapeake Bay region of Southern Maryland, is seeking a Primary Lead Teacher for the 2018-19 year. This 10-month position includes competitive pay, a family-friendly and supportive work environment, and retirement benefits. We are a small and well-established school and have a strong sense of community. The ideal candidate must be AMS or AMI certified with a Bachelor’s degree at a minimum. Strong communication and organizational skills, a desire to work as a team with other teachers, and a genuine desire to connect with children and their families are key components on which applicants will be judged. An interest in multicultural and/or environmental studies would be a plus. The Tidewater School has enjoyed serving families in rural Southern Maryland for more than 3 decades. We are a non-profit 501©(3) institution governed by a Board of Trustees. Our location not far from Washington, D.C. and Annapolis makes for a lovely place to live and work. We are an intentionally small school with 16 students in each of 2 Primary classes and roughly 20 in the Elementary program. Our facility is a house with gardens, a full playground, a nature trail, and a playing field. We have 2 impressive library collections (one for Primary and the other in Elementary) and our students enjoy weekly lessons in Spanish, music, and outdoor education at every level. Our current lead teacher is leaving at the end of the year due to a military transfer, but will work with the new candidate to help with the transition.
