An Introduction to the Universal Language of Music

This presentation will introduce multi-sensory activities in elemental music: rhythm emerging from the child’s speech patterns, body percussion, movement, singing, and play. The methodology flows naturally from primal musical instincts shared by all humans. Multiple modalities of the pedagogy will illustrate their equalizing impact in the Montessori classroom and reveal universal applications to rich cultural traditions from around the world.
