Jihane Mrad

Jihane is a passionate Montessori advocate and an experienced editor and communications professional currently working to bring more Montessori schools to the public education system.

As the parent of two children who attend a private Montessori school in Springfield, VA, Jihane strongly believes that every child should have the opportunity to learn and grow following the Montessori method. This has spurred her to become a staunch advocate of public Montessori. As such, Jihane is currently pursuing a graduate certificate program in Education Policy at George Mason University. She also is a certified Montessori assistant teacher, and when her time permits, she substitutes at her kids’ school.

Jihane is a full-time editor of an online news publication and has served over the years in several communications roles with non-profit organizations, including UK-based The Alexandria Trust, which works to advance higher education in the Arab world. She holds an MA in Journalism from American University in Washington, DC, and a BA in Translation and Modern Languages from USEK, Lebanon. Jihane is fluent in Arabic, French and English, and has working knowledge of Spanish and Farsi.
