Teaching Elementary History with a More Inclusive Lens

After taking a hard look at our history curriculum, I realized it was very Eurocentric and wanted to make immediate changes for the 2020-2021 school year. I am in the process of making material and changing our UE history curriculum so history is seen through a more inclusive lens.

Shanna is the owner and Head of School at Chesapeake Montessori School in Chesapeake, Virginia. She teaches world history in the upper elementary classroom. Shanna is the program director for the VA Montessori Teacher Education Center. Shanna has a Master of Arts in Education and is certified as a Montessori teacher in both 3-6 years and 6-12 years.
