For over 50 years, Arlington Public Schools was the only school district in Virginia to offer a public Montessori program. But this will soon change, as Fairfax County Public Schools gears up to open its very first public Montessori program starting in fall 2025. Thanks to tireless advocacy from the Virginia Montessori Association, in partnership with the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector and the Montessori Public School of Arlington, one of the biggest school districts in the country will implement the Montessori educational approach, with the goal of promoting inclusivity and equitable opportunities for all children.
