The Virginia Montessori Association is excited to share that after years of persistent work and advocacy, Arlington Virginia's application for a pathway to licensure for Montessori passed the VA Board of Education today. What does this mean? Now, Montessori teachers with an AMI, AMS, or MACTE-accredited credential are required to take just one additional course and pass the PRAXIS exams to earn a fully recognized VA state teaching license.

While this milestone only applies to Arlington Public Schools, this certainly sets the stage for the rest of the state. Thanks to Montessori Public Policy Initiative, Montessori Science at UVa and Arlington Public Schools for all their work and support in getting this crucial legislation passed.
