Starling Montessori School in Washington DC, is seeking a Founding Toddler Teacher to join our team during our inaugural year! This is a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with the school director in building an exceptional Montessori program from the ground up. As a Lead Montessori Guide, you will play a vital role in shaping the Toddler Program and contributing to the overall growth and success of the school. Starling Montessori is located in the vibrant Capitol Hill District of Washington D.C. We are in our inaugural year of operation and provide care for 8-12 children ages 16 months to 3 years old with authentic Montessori Education. Our founder and director is a dedicated AMI-trained Montessori Teacher and Administrator.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive Montessori curriculum that meets the developmental needs of each child.
Create and maintain a well-organized, nurturing, and stimulating Montessori Classroom environment
Facilitate child-led learning and individualized instruction
Observe and assess each child's progress, maintaining records and providing regular updates to parents
Act as a positive role model, promote respect, community, and collaboration between children
Guide and support children in their daily activities, encourage social-emotional development and conflict resolution
Maintain open communication with parents/guardians, conducting parent-teacher conferences and providing guidance on integrating Montessori principles at home
Participate in ongoing professional development, staff meetings, and curriculum planning
Collaborate with the director on school programs and program development and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
MACTE Certified Montessori Diploma ages 0-3 or 3-6 (or currently in progress). Preference will be given to AMI & AMS Diploma holders
Bachelor's Degree (any field) or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Prior experience working with toddler aged children in a Montessori or Early childhood care setting
Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy, principles, and classroom management skills.
Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with parents, colleagues, and students.
Passion for nurturing the intellectual, social, and emotional development of young children.
Adaptable to changing circumstances and ability to be flexible.
