West End Montessori School (WEMS) is seeking experienced Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary Montessori teachers to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. Founded over 26 years ago in 1997, WEMS is an owner operated AMS fully accredited school in the West End of Richmond,Virginia. We presently serve approximately 115 toddler, early childhood, kindergarten, lower elementary and upper elementary children and also provide before and after school programs. Using traditional Montessori methods, WEMS is dedicated to guiding children through their cognitive, emotional and social development. Our mission: To provide an authentic Montessori education in an environment that facilitates the development of self-confidence, both intellectually and emotionally. Job Requirements: ● Montessori Certification for Elementary I (6-9) and/or Elementary II from an American Montessori Society (AMS), Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), or Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) accredited training center ● Bachelor's degree or higher ● Passion for children and Montessori education ● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal ● Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents ● Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and work ethic ● Commitment to personal and professional development Job Responsibilities: ● Guide student’s academic, social, and emotional development using the Montessori method and Elementary scope and sequence, while respecting the needs of the individual learner ● Set the tone of a peaceful classroom by creating a stimulating and nurturing learning environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect ● Observe students and classroom in regular focused observations ● Maintain accurate and thorough records of student progress and regularly communicate with parents/administration team and follow through consistently ● Provide written Progress Reports and Interim Reports presenting them at designated Parent Conferences maintaining confidentiality ● Collaborate to plan, implement, and attend school-wide events and presentations ● Participate in Lead Teacher and EL level staff meetings, ongoing professional development This job description is not intended to be a complete list of all responsibilities, duties or skills required for the job and is subject to review and change at any time at the discretion of the Head of School WEMS Offers: ● Competitive Compensation: Negotiable based on experience ● Medical, Dental, Vision, Insurance assistance ● Paid Spring and Winter Breaks and Holidays ● Paid Time Off ● Professional Development Opportunities ● Employee Tuition Discounts for Children ● Inclusive, Collaborative and Encouraging Community Don’t miss this opportunity to work in one of the few AMS Fully Accredited Schools in Virginia!
