Job Title: AMI 0–3 Lead Teacher (Infant/Toddler Guide)

Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Reports To: Head of School / Program Director


Job Summary:

We are seeking a nurturing, dedicated, and certified AMI 0–3 Lead Teacher to guide children through the earliest and most foundational stage of development. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a prepared Montessori environment for children aged birth to three years, fostering independence, movement, language, and emotional growth in accordance with AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) principles.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Leadership:

  • Design, prepare, and maintain a developmentally appropriate, safe, and orderly environment that aligns with AMI standards.

  • Observe and assess each child’s developmental needs and provide individualized support and guidance.

  • Prepare and deliver lessons based on the child’s readiness and sensitive periods.

  • Establish a daily rhythm that supports consistent routines, transitions, and activities.


Child Development & Care:

  • Guide children in physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through Montessori activities.

  • Support children in care-of-self and toileting with sensitivity, respect, and encouragement toward independence.

  • Provide consistency, warmth, and security to build strong, trusting relationships.


Parent Communication & Support:

  • Foster positive relationships with parents through regular communication, including informal updates, scheduled conferences, and written observations.

  • Provide education to parents about Montessori philosophy, developmental stages, and ways to support the child at home.


Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with classroom assistants and support staff to maintain a cohesive environment.

  • Mentor and model best practices for assistants, offering guidance in alignment with AMI methodology.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development, team meetings, and school events.


Administrative:

  • Maintain accurate records of child progress, lesson presentations, and observations.

  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, including licensing and health regulations.

  • Participate in school-wide responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications:

  • AMI Diploma for Assistants to Infancy (0–3) required.

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field) preferred.

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with infants/toddlers in a Montessori environment.

  • Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and observation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team and build relationships with families.

  • Passionate about Montessori philosophy and early childhood development.


Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position (typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with variations based on school).

  • Physical demands include lifting, sitting on the floor, bending, and interacting at the child’s level.

  • Indoor and outdoor supervision required.
