The Montessori School of Charlottesville has provided Montessori education in the Charlottesville area for over 45 years. We are looking for a Primary (3-6) Teacher for our Gordon Avenue location for the 2023-2024 school year.

Candidates should hold Children’s House/Primary certification from a MACTE-accredited training center or be willing to begin training before starting work. We are looking for individuals who will be committed to upholding Montessori techniques and philosophy while supporting colleagues and families with an emphasis on collaboration and support. Punctuality and strong written communication skills are a must, as is a deep respect for children and our environment. We strive to create to a joyful, diverse, and peaceful community.

Salary starts between $33,000 and $37,000 based on experience and training. The Academic calendar runs from mid-August-early June.

Schedule M-F, 8-3.

About Us

The Springs was founded in 1966 as a private school to provide Montessori classes for children in the Northern Virginia area. Since that time, The Springs has seen major growth. In 1984, The Springs expanded to include a licensed Full Day Program. In 2014, the school again expanded to include an Infant and Toddler Montessori program. Position Description
​The Springs, A Montessori School, in Springfield, VA, is looking for a Lead Toddler Teacher. The Springs is an American Montessori Society accredited school located in Northern, VA just outside the nation's capital.

The position is for the 2023 Summer Camp and the 2023-2024 school and will start on June 5, 2023. The Springs is looking for a creative, motivated, and dedicated individual who has a passion for working with young children and the Montessori philosophy. The successful candidate will be responsible for a mixed-age classroom comprised of 12-15 16 months to 3-year-olds.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to giving Montessori lessons, observations, daily record keeping, communicating with parents across various mediums, parent education, training and managing assistant faculty, and most importantly providing care and support to all children. Hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm with occasional evening meetings and at least two weekend events a year.

The Woods was founded in 2018 as a private school to provide Montessori classes for children in Prince William County. Since that time, The Woods has seen major growth. Job Description: The Montessori Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the educational advancement for the students under her/his charge utilizing the best principles based in the Montessori tradition of education. The teacher demonstrates knowledge and practice of the core Montessori philosophy of respect for the individual learner, preparation of the environment, fostering independence, order and concentration in the student, respect for sensitive periods, recognizing intrinsic motivation and the absorbent mind.

Education, Training and/or Experience: Must hold, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in addition to an AMS or AMI Montessori Teacher Credential. Minimum of three years’ Montessori Lead teaching experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong oral & written communications, ability to use basic Microsoft software such as: excel and word, email and calendaring, Google apps, ability to use tact when dealing with difficult parent and/or student situations, attention to detail and accuracy, ability to recognize classroom situations with students and bring in support for observation as needed, able to make decisions and work independently, able to solve problems, strong interpersonal skills, exemplary work ethic, high energy and consistent follow through, understands and demonstrates confidentiality regarding parent and family situations, treats co-workers with respect and dignity.

Certifications, Licenses, or Registrations: current CPR and First Aid certification.

Physical Factors: Primarily a classroom environment, with the exception of carpool or recess duty, field trip chaperoning, and other needs as assigned. Ability to lift 35 pounds is required.

Other duties: On an as needed basis, employees are needed to attend classroom-specific and after school functions, community meetings, parent meetings and other times outside the normal schedule.
