Requirements include: the ability to be reliable, consistent and flexible, a love and understanding of children, high school diploma (early childhood certification or equivalent preferred) and experience working with young children, and the ability to spend time on the floor/easily get down to children's level. The Academic calendar runs from mid-August to early June with Summer Camp contracted separately. Schedule M-F, 2:30-5:30 with opportunities to sub in the mornings. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include: Co-teaching with an experienced Upper Elementary AMS-credentialed teacher. Develop and implement new curricula aligned with Montessori pedagogy, theory, and principles as needed. Oversee the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times. Maintain curriculum planning, observational and academic records, including progress reports. Manage classroom behaviors and implement peace education. Maintain written records of all parent meetings, phone calls, emails, etc. Prepare a weekly message to parents. Hold two family conferences during the school year and provide on-going communication to parents as needed. Proactively initiate discussions with parents in the early stages of issues. Attend staff meetings, parent education, school functions. Attend and seek out opportunities for professional growth and development.
