Elementary Montessori Teacher Job Description: It is expected that Montessori teachers, in accordance with their albums, shall be responsible for the following: Organization and maintenance of the Prepared Environment/Classroom. Planning and developing age-appropriate curricula that promote intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of the student, to include the school year lesson plans, special units, projects, and field trips. Maintaining ongoing knowledge of Montessori principles. Maintain needed skills to guide and direct elementary students, ages 6-12. Keep student information confidential, be professional and positive in all dealings with children and their parents. Communicating with families so that their understanding of the Montessori curriculum grows as the year progresses. Encouraging families to observe and have conferences during the year. Participating in all-School Community activities to demonstrate their commitment to Montessori principles and to their students. Keeping appropriate records so that a Student Progress Report, completed in April, will accurately reflect the arc of the student’s work throughout the year. The Report should be the basis for the Spring conference with the parents. Cooperating with other staff members in supervising dismissal and playground duty according to an agreed-upon schedule.
