Lead Teacher (Early Childhood Classroom)

Providence Montessori Christian School, a primary Montessori school in Richmond, Virginia, is looking for a lead teacher to join our staff for the 2021-22 school year. PMCS is a community of enthusiastic educators and committed parents who work together to provide excellence in all facets of a child’s growth and development, including the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and emotional. Staff members are committed to providing an authentic Christian Montessori experience to families in Richmond.
Annual Salary: $25,000 to $35,000, depending on experience Hours: approx. 30 hours per week, 8:00am and 2:00pm, during the school year (late August-early June)

Responsibilities: -Establish and maintain a classroom environment that is in keeping with both Montessori methodology and the Christian faith -Plan and prepare units of study, lessons, etc. for a classroom of primary students -Provide guidance and instructions to students in ways that encourage independence and demonstrate respect for their individuality -Maintain ongoing records of students’ individual progress and areas of need -Communicate regularly and effectively with families Requirements -A strong commitment to Christ and a desire to share faith with the next generation -Montessori certification -Experience working with young children, ideally in an educational setting -Up-to-date pediatric CPR certification or willingness to obtain -Familiarity with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is desirable
