Assistant Teachers

West End Montessori School (WEMS) is seeking Montessori Toddler, Early Childhood and Elementary Assistant Teachers to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. Founded over 26 years ago in 1997, WEMS is an owner operated AMS fully accredited school in the West End of Richmond, Virginia. We presently serve approximately 115 toddler, early childhood, kindergarten, lower elementary and upper elementary children and also provide before and after school programs. Using traditional Montessori methods, WEMS is dedicated to guiding children through their cognitive, emotional and social development.

To provide an authentic Montessori education in an environment that facilitates the development of self-confidence, both intellectually and emotionally.

Job Requirements:
● Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
● Passion for children and education
● Willingness to learn and a calm, caring attitude
● Ability to work collaboratively with a Lead Teacher
● Consistent attendance, work ethic, and keen awareness
● Commitment to personal and professional development

Job Responsibilities:
● Help with daily preparation and clean up of classroom environment
● Support and assisting the Lead teacher in classroom management and daily routines
● Model Grace and Courtesy
● Demonstrate respect for the children
● Foster independence and peace within the children
● Communicate with the Lead Teacher regarding observations of the children, environment, and routines of the day
● Attend required staff meetings, workdays and professional development days as required
●Adhere to WEMS policies and procedures as outlined in the WEMS Employee Handbook
