Our growing Middle and High School program serves a dynamic group of 10 students (grades 7 through 12). The Adolescent Guide is responsible for the educational advancement for these 10 students, utilizing principles based in the Montessori tradition of education. Specific responsibilities include planning, leading, and implementing the STEM curriculum, supporting students, communication with parents regarding student progress, and organizing and supporting a variety of student-led and hands-on projects, off-campus field studies, and service activities.

At WCEC, all teachers are active community members who share in the general support and care of the school community, serve as student advisors, and participate in community service, among other activities. Responsibilities for this position also include collaboration and participation in school-wide, co-curricular activities.

About the World Community Education Center
The World Community Education Center is an independent, non-profit Montessori school located in southern Virginia, in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Established in 1975, we are currently serving 33 students from age 3 through grade 12.

World Community Education Center has a proven record of academic excellence, learning through service, and emphasis on universal spiritual values. Our campus is located on an 80-acre community property with trails, stream, pond, a large organic garden, farm animals, and wildlife. Students and teachers are encouraged to explore and utilize the natural environment as a learning space. Our teachers enjoy a supportive faculty community, well equipped classrooms, and support for continuing education.

The World Community Education Center is strengthened by our connection to two “sister-organizations,” the World Community, one of the oldest and well-established intentional communities in the U.S., with about 50 dedicated people rooted in the spiritual practice of Sufism, and Legacy International, an international non-profit organization serving young and emerging leaders from around the world. These organizations, and our strongly engaged parent community, provide a wealth of support, opportunities and diversity for students and staff at WCEC.

Interested job applicants can request more information about housing and association with the World Community, as a way to more fully engage in and support your role at WCEC. WCEC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is continually seeking to diversify its staff. WCEC does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation or national ethnic origin. People of color and members of other underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
