Woodbridge Cardinal Montessori School, located in Woodbridge, VA, is now accepting applications for a fulltime Lead Primary Montessori Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm during the school year (end of August – end of May). The salary for this position is $50,000 plus a negotiable signing bonus. An option to work in the summer for an hourly wage can be discussed. With roots stretching back to 1959, Cardinal Montessori School (CMS) is the oldest AMS Montessori school in Prince William County. More information about CMS can be found at our website: https://cardinalmontessori.com/ Lead Teacher Qualifications: • BA/BS degree preferred • Must have AMS/AMI teaching credentials • Must have strong references • Understanding of and commitment to Montessori philosophy as well as early childhood best practices • Knowledge of Montessori equipment and how to teach students using Montessori equipment • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to develop a strong connection with children and families • Effective time management and organizational skills • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance community • Must have a warm, supportive, and patient attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families • Kind, thoughtful, and strong at guiding children in self-motivated learning and helping stimulate their natural desire to learn • Qualified, enthusiastic, energetic, and nurturing individuals • Completion of a background check and fingerprints required Duties and responsibilities: • Lesson planning, providing one on one lessons and guiding students 3-6 years old • Observing and recording student learning and growth • Supporting each child to learn at his/her own pace • Commitment and respect for the Montessori philosophy and the developmental needs of children in the primary age group • Confident in the knowledge of Montessori materials and teaching fundamentals • Promoting the social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children under their care • Working with the school’s staff to create an environment of learning • Actively develop and maintain positive parent relationships • Keep parents stay informed of the progress of their child • Maintain an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence • Responsible to supervise the classroom by helping the children to think creatively, to solve problems independently and respect themselves and others • Model appropriate behavior for both students and staff.
