Glen Allen, Va Glen Allen Community Montessori is seeking a certified, loving, and detail oriented individual to join our non-profit co-op! Position will begin in September. Responsibilities: Ensure respectful and open lines of communication with parents Communicate via newsletters with parents about their children’s school lives every month. Plan, prepare and organize all materials for parent volunteers. Lead Admissions procedures: Host prospective student applicants in the classroom as requested through admissions. Answer admission and enrollment related emails and phone calls Schedule classroom meetings and participate if needed Build new student files to be handed off for maintenance to additional Co-Director. General Responsibilities: Promote good communication among staff members. Facilitate a respectful environment for children and adults by advocating conflict resolution and Grace and Courtesy lessons. Provide first aid as needed and complete appropriate forms for parents. Be a community leader, responsible for the school in the absence of an Executive Director Responsible for reading and adhering to the guidelines as established in the employee handbook and adhere to all school policies. Must work in any additional capacity as requested by the Executive Director as needed in both short and long term situations. Responsibilities to the Staff: Attend scheduled Staff meetings, workshops, open houses and parent events as requested. Call/find substitutes for staff members in emergency situations. Report any maintenance issues to the Executive Director/President of the Board. May be asked to participate in the interview process and the orientation of new staff members. Report to the Executive Director any signs of illness, injury or abuse of students. Take appropriate action in an emergency situation. Supervise the classroom assistant, substitutes, and parent volunteers. Provide necessary instruction and training for those assisting in the classroom environment. Responsibilities to the Children and Parents: Recognize and respect appropriate parent/student confidentiality. Maintain constant supervision of students in care; attend to students in distress. Supervise all activities to ensure proper participation and safety. Use appropriate positive Montessori discipline techniques with students. Maintain sanitary standards for self and students. The teacher will respond to parent concerns in a timely manner (usually within 24 hours). Responsibilities to the Classroom: Clean-up of the classroom. Ensuring that it is always tidy. Responsible for preparation of the classroom environment, materials, and equipment; ensures that all materials are in good repair and all sets complete. Develops and makes materials when needed OR pass off to parent volunteers. Plan and implement the Montessori curriculum. Give appropriate presentations and establish a record keeping system to track the children’s progress. Requirements: Montessori Primary Certification CPR/First Aid certification A clear record through fingerprinting Have the physical capacity to work with pre-school/Kindergarten-aged children.
