Lead Teacher – Primary 3-6 (Permanent)

The Tidewater School, located in the western Chesapeake Bay region of Southern Maryland, is seeking a Primary Lead Teacher for the 2022-23 year. This 9 1/2-month position includes competitive pay, a family-friendly and supportive work environment, and retirement benefits. The ideal candidate must be AMS or AMI certified with a Bachelor’s degree. Strong communication and organizational skills, an eagerness to work as a team member, and a genuine desire to connect with children and their families are key components on which applicants will be considered. An interest in multicultural and environmental studies would be a plus.
 
The Tidewater School has enjoyed serving families in rural Southern Maryland for more than 3 decades. We are a non-profit institution governed by a Board of Trustees. Our location, not far from Washington, D.C. and Annapolis, lies in a beautiful rural area between the Chesapeake Bay and the Patuxent River.

We are a small school with two Primary classes and fully enrolled Lower and Upper Elementary programs. Our facility includes outdoor gardens, a blacktop recreation court, and a playground. We have a wonderful library and kitchen space. Our students enjoy weekly lessons in Spanish, music, and environmental education at every level. We have a long history of weaving multicultural studies and celebrations into our curriculum.
