Richmond Montessori School Job Description: The Montessori Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the educational advancement for the students under her/his charge utilizing the best principles based in the Montessori tradition of education. The teacher demonstrates knowledge and practice of the core Montessori philosophy of respect for the individual learner, preparation of the environment, fostering independence, order and concentration in the student, respect for sensitive periods, recognizing intrinsic motivation and the absorbent mind. Education, Training and/or Experience: Must hold, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in addition to an AMS or AMI Montessori Teacher Credential. Minimum of three years’ Montessori Lead teaching experience, required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong oral & written communications, ability to use basic Microsoft software such as: Excel and Word, email and calendaring, Google Suite apps, ability to use tact when dealing with difficult parent and/or student situations, attention to detail and accuracy, ability to recognize classroom situations with students and bring in support for observation as needed, able to make decisions and work independently, able to solve problems, strong interpersonal skills, exemplary work ethic, high energy and consistent follow through, understands and demonstrates confidentiality regarding parent and family situations, treats co-workers with respect and dignity.
