Williamsburg Montessori School (WMS) located in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Middle School (Secondary I) Mathematics Teacher to join our collaborative and driven teaching team. The Math Teacher will plan, teach, and oversee all aspects of the mathematics curriculum within the framework of our Montessori Adolescent Program. While Montessori training is preferred, the ideal candidate will execute a student-centered, multi-leveled program and possesses a flexible mindset and approach to learning. Our mission is to provide the adolescents of Hampton Roads with a holistic, student-centered learning environment governed by the educational philosophy of Maria Montessori. Through meaningful, engaging, and authentic work, our education is designed to foster our students’ social, physical, and intellectual development and prepare them for success in high school, higher education, and life beyond formal school. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Implement age-appropriate curriculum using Montessori teaching philosophy and practice • Provide 140 of instruction time for high school credit level courses • Differentiate learning to accommodate a variety of learners and maintain appropriate pacing for all students • Create, manage, and evaluate projects, assessments, and experiences for adolescents • Oversee the scope and sequence of the Adolescent Program Mathematics curriculum • Participate in field experiences throughout the year in conjunction with the social-emotional and Erdkinder curriculum • Maintain grades, communication, etc. via the Adolescent Program’s Learning Management System • Attend both plane and staff meetings EXPERIENCE • Montessori Adolescent Credential from a MACTE certified program preferred • Bachelor’s Degree required • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in middle or high school • Knowledge of multiple levels of mathematics to include pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry • Experience working in a collaborative, open environment valued • Flexibility and ability to embrace change and adapt to new situations This is a part-time position, approximately 15-18 hours per week for the 10 month school year (September – June).
