Montessori Part-Time Office and Substitute Teacher

Fulton Montessori School is a small non-profit Montessori preschool program in the East End using income-based sliding tuition rates to help a wide range of families benefit from Montessori education. We serve working families with a year-round schedule and operational hours from 8am-6pm. As a result, we have a diverse community of Board of Directors, donors, staff, and families that support our mission to strengthen children through Montessori education in Richmond's East End. We have two prepared environments (ages 3-6.5 and ages 2-4) with Montessori-certified Lead Teachers in one location. POSITION DETAILS
The Office Assistant and Substitute Teacher position is a part-time, hourly position which begins March 22, 2021 (upon successful background checks). We are following current VDSS and CDC recommendations for COVID-19 safety guidelines. All employees will be provided with face masks and will share daily disinfecting tasks per VADSS recommendations. Schedule: Office work: 3 days a week for 3-4 hours a day between 8am-2pm; Substitute work: As needed, Monday - Friday from 9:00am-6:00pm with a one hour break daily Pay rate: $13/hour Benefits: automatic deposit and online paystubs

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Our ideal candidate will easily fit into our kind and hardworking team; is punctual and reliable; will show respect and kindness towards children and others; has a love for learning and has a willingness to learn new ways of interacting with children; is comfortable with assisting children in various stages of toilet-training and with careful and thorough hand washing; can stay attentive and alert at all times; uses open communication and follows direction while also asking questions as needed; is willing to defer to Lead Teacher and Administration leadership regarding parent communication; and is able observe and take notes as needed.

The Office Assistant candidate is organized in multitasking, a wonderful communicator, is flexible, and able to accomplish tasks to meet deadlines. This position supports FMS Administration and staff with a variety of needs, including morning check-in for students, social media and online cloud document maintenance, email and phone communications, is proficient in use of iPads, Word and Google formats, and able to ask questions and provide feedback as needed.

The Assistant Teacher Substitute supports the work of the Lead Teachers and works closely with the Teacher to manage the classroom, lead group time, maintain a beautiful, clean, and safe environment that is socially, emotionally, physically, and academically appropriate for children ages 2.5-6.5, as set forth by the AMS/AMI organizations.Specific non-academic tasks include assisting children in the bathroom (some who are toilet training), daily snack preparation, dish washing, toy and material sanitizing, , environment sanitizing and any other duties as needed that support the children, staff, or parents.

REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s Degree is preferred) 1 year of office or administrative experience 2 years childcare experience with 3-5 year old children required Reliable transportation and punctual Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain as soon as possible upon hire) Read, understand, follow and uphold Fulton Montessori School Employee Handbook Guidelines Great classroom management skills Respect and kindness towards children and others Pass background checks and adhere to regulations required by VADSS Attend all necessary trainings, school functions, including after-school events, Parent Information Nights (PINs), staff training days, and staff meetings.
