Reports to Teacher(s) first and then Head of School.
Supports the work of the teacher, primarily though the preparation and maintenance of the environment in which the Montessori approach to education is implemented.
Acts as a support person during class work times and will support the work of the head classroom teacher.
Works with individual and small groups of children as directed by the Teacher and/or Head of School.
Assists the teacher in the daily monitoring of students' work.
Assists with preparation of curriculum and classroom materials as directed.
Is responsible for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times.
Adheres to professional standards as an educator for the purpose of maintaining quality and excellence.
Follows all policies and procedures of the school as written in the employee and parent Handbooks.
Helps to prepare and maintain a classroom environment in which the furnishings and materials create an imaginative, nurturing, learning environment and correspond to the needs of the group as shown by the teacher.
Protects the privacy and working atmosphere of the class at all times.
Supervises children in the classroom, on the playground, and in any area of the school grounds at all times.
Supervises children in monthly fire drills and safety in place drills.
Greets children and assists them out of their cars safely, assists children safely into their cars at pick-up time as needed. Including supervising After School.
Helps to maintain current, accurate, individual progress notes, attendance records and incidental notes.
Assists in holding conferences with parents.
Participates in parent/teacher meetings and any other meetings deemed necessary by the Head of School.
Takes responsibility for the care and maintenance of the classroom and teaching materials and equipment.
Organize storage of supplies, materials, and activities.
Reports all accidents or unusual situations to the Teacher and the Head of School and writes a dated report in classroom journal.
Notifies the Head of School immediately of personal difficulties with children, parents, or staff members.
Assists with developing other projects, programs, and planning as requested by Head of School. Supports all school related fundraising projects.

Mountaintop Montessori, a private independent school, is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a Toddler Guide position beginning in August with the start of our 2022-2023 school year. This position has the flexibility to be either a full-time year-round position or a part-time year-round position.

About Our School: Mountaintop Montessori provides the greater Charlottesville community with an exceptional and authentic Montessori education, serving children and families from infancy through adolescence. Our campus is home to year-round programming in which children thrive through experiential learning, interactions with the natural world, and collaborative discovery. Our campus is a 9-acre classroom including multiple gardens, a greenhouse, a certified wildlife habitat, and an art studio.

About the Position: Desired profile for this position is an individual who is passionate about and trained in the Montessori Method at the Toddler level (serving students from 18 months to 3 years). The individual should possess strong classroom management skills, an understanding of child development and the ability to work as a team. An open-mind and flexibility are also highly desired. Mountaintop Montessori is searching for a candidate that is willing to work year round, as we do provide a Toddler classroom throughout the summer. This position begins mid-August and is contracted through the following August with the potential of continuing into the next school year.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree  MACTE accredited AMS or AMI credential for Infant-Toddler  Previous teaching experience preferred but not required  Proficiency working with computers (Google Workspace, MRX record keeping, Microsoft Word & Publisher)  Must pass a criminal background check.  Ability to work effectively with parents, co-workers, and diverse communities.  Self-motivated individual who demonstrates a positive attitude and commitment to respectful interactions.  Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate with co-workers and children with honesty, kindness and patience.  Physical requirements include the ability to sit on the floor with students, squat down to a child's eye level, kneel, and lift and carry up to 30 pounds.

Salary:
Full-Time Year-Round Position Annual Salary Range: $45K – $50K (Comprehensive Benefit Package; Professional development opportunities; Supportive and respectful work environment) Part-Time Year-Round Position Annual Salary Range: $24K – $28K (Professional development opportunities; Supportive and respectful work environment)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Cardinal Montessori School, located in Woodbridge, VA, is now accepting applications for a fulltime Lead Primary Montessori Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Specific responsibilities include: • Planning and implementing the STEM program, in consultation with school administration; • Create lesson plans; evaluate student performances; prepare grades and reports • Teach using lectures, project-based and hands-on learning experiences • Supporting students and tailor instruction to student needs • Communicate with parents regarding student progress, • Organize and supporting a variety of student-led and hands-on projects and field-trips. At WCEC, all teachers are active community members who share in the general support and care of the school community, serve as student advisors, and participate in community service. Responsibilities for this position also include collaboration and participation in a school-wide, co-curricular activities. This is a 9-month, beginning August 2021 for between 20 to 36 hours/week. (Specific hours and schedule to be determined by course load.) An ability to support school functions, which occasionally occur on evenings and weekends, is a plus.
